AS A CALLIGRAPHER DOING CALLIGRAPHY EVERYDAY, I’VE LEARNED MANY FONTS. IN FACT, I CAN PRETTY MUCH DUPLICATE ANY FONT
At a time when it’s easier to sit at a computer and type out my message, I know that as a calligraphy artist my senses are filled as a computer cannot do. The shapes of the letters imitate nature; look at the flow of a tree branch or the stem of a flower. There are no rigid lines in calligraphy just as there are no rigid lines in nature. Man-made objects have strong angles and sharp corners. Everything in calligraphy curves or bends gradually. There is no abrupt start or finish to the letters. As a calligraphy artist ,when I look at calligraphy, I want to slow down, relax and take the time to read what was scripted.
When I write in my everyday hand, my writing is practically illegible. When I pick up one of my calligraphy pens, I feel a change come over me and I automatically slow down. I form each letter, then each word and then each line, then the entire “picture” with each stroke of my pen. These are inspired moments for me and I take great pride in being a calligraphy artist.
Whether you want your favorite quote transferred into a beautiful script, or you want your invitations for your special event done in calligraphy, I invite you to choose the hand-written beauty of calligraphy from a calligraphy artist.
